Preperations in action
Prepare, prepare, prepare.
The weather has just gotten a lot better here in Montreal for the past two weeks, with temperatures approaching 20 degrees.
Finals are going on, but my mind is elsewhere. Ive been working more to cover travel costs as well.
Been preparing some gear for the past few weeks, all courtesy of my tax return.
Backpack
I went with a 30L Aquaquest Stylin'. Price is around $100 CAD.
Fully waterproof, with one main compartment and a smaller one on the outside.

Rain Gear
I found an old and little Italian bike store near my house, called VB Cycles. The owner, Adam, is always fun to chat with.
Went in last week and spotted this "Sorry" (Italian brand) rain set which really caught my eye. Hope I get a chance to test it out beforehand.
Helmet
Picked this one up from Aliepxress. I used the same model when I was biking in Beijing. It's saved my head after crashes, being hit by buses, cars, scooters, and people. Light, comfortable, and nothing flashy.

All the sleeping gear and tools packed away nicely |
Want to stay as light as possible, especially in the mountains. |
The Plan
Route planning is still underway, but so far the plan is leave Tokyo on the night of May 9th to get to Niigata, which is 350 km away. Passing by the Oze National Park on the way, on Japan National Highway 352.
In Yellow (Jukai Line 352). Going through mountains the whole way |
Awesome!
